Let's talk about texture!! Yarn Dyed Essex Linen by Robert Kaufman is a cotton linen blend (45% cotton, 55% linen, to be exact) and is one of our very favorite substrates. It will add an exciting textural contrast to your quilt, and has an earthy, natural feel to it. One of the questions we get asked most is "should it be prewashed"? If you're already a prewasher, go for it. However, we usually choose to dive right in and start sewing! The shrinkage rate is similar to that of quilting cotton.
